Nash Hutmacher qualified for state in both the shot and discus

SHOCKING results as Region 6A TUFF guys put on a show
May 20, 2017

By Rich Winter

Well, finally caught up to the Region 6A track results and as expected the boys shot and discus were contested with some elite Big Dakota Conference athletes getting after it.

Some shocking performances and some really, really good results in a couple of epic contests.

First of all, shut up NASH HUTMACHER....are you kidding me?

Alright, so Nash has been on the edge of pre-qualifying in the shot and discus all season, but just a tad short in both events.

So, in order to qualify for the state meet, Hutmacher needed to finish in the top two of his events.

He finished 3rd in both events.

But, Jerry Rhodes' newest pupil, broke state qualifying standards in the process, and will indeed, but attending the state track meet.

shot qualifying is 48-2 - Nash got out to 48-5.5

Disc qualifing is 140-05 - Nash got out to 141-6

The second time through I saw the HOFTIEZER brothers just crushing it in the boys shot.
Senior Damon got out to 52-9.5, about a two-foot personal best and the 2nd leading throw in Class A this season.
Younger brother, Brady Hoftiezer caught a big one, all the way out to 49-4. He finished 2nd in the meet and also shattered the state qualifying standard.

Those are HUGE efforts from the SC brothers.

Third time through I saw MOPO athlete, Carson Keller getting 5th in a loaded shot competition with a toss of 46-feet.
Keller had already prequalified in the discus and he finished 2nd in the region.

Fourth time through I saw the hard-luck award that goes to Miller senior Marshall Johnson.
Shot put - 4th - Marshall Johnson - 47-11.5....Just 2.5 inches from qualifying for the state meet.
Discus - 4th - Marshall Johnson.

Looking for a good showing from the Region 6A big boys at the upcoming state meet.
