Potter County's Carl Cronin has been mowing down the competition in the Class B 113 lb. weight class

Can Potter County's Carl Cronin reach the top rung of Class B's 113 lb. weight class
Jan 27, 2017

Rich Winter

It's been a terrific season of wresting thus far for Potter County senior, Carl Cronin. The big fella started the season at 120 lbs., won the Stanley County Invite and then moved down a weight class to 113.

Since that move, he's been nearly unbeatable, and handling some terrific wrestlers like Winner's Wyatt Turnquist and Philip's Jadyn Collier in the process.

At the recently completed Winner Invitational, Collier beat Winner's Wyatt Turnquist who just stopped Pierre 113 pounder's 71 match winning streak, 4-2. In the finals, Cronin handled Collier, 6-3 and this week's Class B wrestling rankings reflect just how dominant, Cronin has been.

No. 1 - Trevor Kinnert - Tri-Valley

No. 2 - Carl Cronin - Potter County

No. 3 - Wyatt Turnquist - Winner

No. 4 - Haydn Gilbertson - Kingsbury County

No. 5 - Collier - Philip

No. 6 - Wolf - Lemmon/Mcintosh (likely moves down to 106)

No. 7 - Custer kid

Should be some shuffling in the No. 3 through No. 5 rankings this week as Turnquist lost to Collier twice last weekend.

Cronin and his Potter County teammates are at the Lee Wolf Invitational in Aberdeen this weekend and it truly looks like a monster tournament with the likes of Aberdeen Central, Bismark Century, Bismarck, Chamberlain, Huron, Mandan, Watertown, Sioux Falls O'Gorman and Winner in attendance.

Cronin's teammate, Lucas Smith, the most built wrestler in the state of South Dakota regardless of classification is the No. 1 ranked Class B guy at 138 lbs.

Potter County's, Chance Stuwe is ranked No. 12 at 126 lbs.
