MVP @ Chamberlain - Evenly matched, everything on the line...Preview

mVP AT Chamberlain has playoff ramifications galore
Oct 6, 2017

By Rich Winter

Both the Chamberlain Cubs and MVP Titans have been a little up-and-down this year.

MVP coach Brent Olson suggested at the beginning of the year that his team didn't have a lot of seniors and the Titans might struggle a bit with the move to 11B. A season opening loss to Stanley County, a win over Wagner, 27-6 loss to Woonsocket/Wessington Springs, Sanborn Central. A win over Flandreau and a 20-14 loss to No. 4 ranked Winner two weeks ago before their bye.

MVP is 3-3 on the year and a win tonight would just about clinch the 11B playoffs.

Chamberlain, 2-4 has been tossed around a bit during Dan Olson's first year. A weird loss to Canton (rain delay), kind of a shocking loss to Groton before those back-to-back losses to WSWSSC and Winner last week.

Chamberlain's two wins came against St. Francis and Wagner.

By the Numbers:

In MVP's three losses they've scored just 40 points.

In MVP's three wins they've scored 129 points

Chamberlain -

* 13 has not been a lucky number for the Cubs. In their last two outings the Cubs put up 13 points only to be handled by good competition.

This is going to be an evenly matched ball-game for two teams that need a win badly. Chamberlain's wide-open offensive attack has yet to be perfect against upper-tier competition. Lot of skill players for Chamberlain: Riggs Priebe, Carson Powers, Jett Evans, Isaac Hawk....Let's see if the Cubs can run the ball?

For MVP it has been running by committe with an emphasis on sophomore Jesse Hastings. Hayden Haak gives the Titans a TUFF signal-caller with Kaden Karst and Dane Rihanek do a little bit of everything.

Expecting a hard-fought, evenly played game her with a lot at stake for both teams.
