Winner's Brady Fritz capped a monstrous 8th-grade year with several elite performances at the South Dakota state track meet

Winner 8th-grader shows MASSIVE promise in jumping events
Jun 1, 2017

For Winner 8th-grader, Brady Fritz being in the greatest Class A long jump field ever assembled just have kinda sucked to put it frankly.

After the dust has settled from the 2017 state track meet, and going back through some of the field event results, I'm astonished at what this young 8th-grader did.

Long jump: Fritz 20-11.25 inches - 10th place (Gotta tell ya, don't think many 8th graders in the history of South Dakota have jumped 21-feet....On a normal year that's about 4th place in the event, but the 2017 field was DEEP and it took 21-.5 inches to make finals. Fritz missed finals by 3/4 of an inch.

Triple jump: Fritz 41-5 - 10th place (Interesting hear the triple jump is such a technical event and again, Fritz was the last guy left out of the finals as it took 41-10 just to make finals).

But, Fritz did get a medal as the foursome of Riley Calhoon, Isaac Naasz, Drew DeMers and Fritz (anchor) finished 8th in the 4 x 100 relay with a superb time of 45.16.

Eighth grader jumping out of the park and anchoring a senior-laden 4 x 100 squad...I like it.

So, on to 9th grade...Say, doesn't this kid play QB....Hmmmmm, interesting!!
