What's up in RED RAIDER sports country
Aug 29, 2017

By Rich Winter

It has been tough sledding so far for the Wagner football team as coach Jason Knebel and company are still looking for the first win of the season. The Red Raiders were blanked by MVP on Saturday after the Friday portion of the game was cancelled.

Stanley County is coming off a 42-6 thumping at the hands of the Winner Warriors. Really tough schedule for Wagner who sees Chamberlain in week 4 and McCook Central/Montrose in week 5 before the bye week.

Red Raider volleyball:

Wow, what a busy start to the season for coach Amy Tyler's squad. The Red Raiders opened their season with a 3-set sweep of Vermillion and then went into tournament play.

A win over McCook Central/Montrose was followed by a loss to No. 1 Class B Northwestern, a win over Parkston and a two-set loss to always tough Arlington.

Like the schedule here as games against the likes of Northwestern should help Tyler get a good look at where her squad is and what areas they need to improve upon here in the early part of the season.

Red Raider Schedule:

Aug 24 6:30 p.m. CT Vermillion Vermillion (25-17) (25-21) (25-17) W 41 0-3
Aug 26 8:30 a.m. CT McCook Central/Montrose Parkston (19-25) (25-21) (25-22) W 44 2-3
Aug 26 TBA Northwestern Parkston (18-25) (13-25) L 39 6-0
Aug 26 1:00 p.m. MT Parkston Parkston (25-22) (25-16) W 44 2-3
Aug 26 3:00 p.m. CT Arlington Parkston (9-25) (17-25) L 33 2-3
Aug 31 8:00 p.m. CT Chamberlain Chamberlain

Like the matchup with Chamberlain, in Chamberlain on Thursday night. The Lady Cubs play Stanley County tonight on a game that will be webcast at www.gobuffslive.com. (For those that wanted to watch)

Good out of region match with Chamberlain on Thursday, that could be a good match. Might be webcast at www.cubsnation.live
