Welcome to the party Lyman - RAIDERS advance athletes to state track meet
May 20, 2017

By Rich Winter

It has been kind of an interesting year for the Lyman Raider field and track coaching staff, Joel Milton, Amber Comp and Sydni Ozanne. The Raiders lost a ton from last year's boys and girls squads so this season has kind of been a work in progress in developing athletes rather than fine-tuning athletes that have already proven themselves on the big stage.

Well, at the Region 7B championships this week, the Lyman Raiders showed the merits of scratching and clawing and getting better every time they stepped on the track.

Lyman state qualifiers...

1600 meters: 2nd Quinn Lulf (senior)

Mile Relay: 2nd 4:33.82 - Sara Herman, Kayt Garnos, Quinn Lulf and Kaci Wagner

1600 meter medley: REGION Champs - 4:43.79 - Kadi Terca, Kayt Garnos, Sara Herman and Kaci Wagner

Lyman Boys had a bunch of near misses at the Region meet with a bunch of guys finishing third and needing to crack top-2.

1600 Meters - 3rd - Brandon Estes

110 Hurdles - 3rd - Sage Mowery 18.76

300 Hurdles - 3rd - Sage Mowery - 49.87

4x100 relay - 3rd - 48.5 Carter Collins, Corwin Mohr-Eymer, Jacob Hofer, Sage Mowery

And then, the Raiders had a break-through as sophomore, Jadeon Biggers finished 2nd in the shot-put at 38-5

Biggers came back to win the discus - 117-feet
