Tyson Mayer delivers 2-run single as Gregory defeats Winner in Jr. Legion play at Leahy Bowl

Tyson Mayer's BIG BLOW lifts Gregory over Winner as MASSIVE Jr. Legion triple-header going on at Leahy Bowl
Jul 9, 2017

By Rich Winter

Tuned into Winnerwarriorslive.com this afternoon and caught up to the Gregory vs. Winner Jr. Legion game in the top of the third. Up to that point it had all been Winner as the guys in gold led 5-0.

But, Gregory is one of those up and coming baseball programs and the guys showed some tuffness and scrapiness today.

Entering the top of the 5th, Gregory had closed the gap to 5-4.

With runners on first and third, Tommy Determan slapped a bloop single that scored one run to knot the contest at 5-5.

Following Evan Jurrasic (forgive me on the names here don't have a program in front of me) lined out for the first out of the inning, Ben reached on a dropped third strike to load the bases.

Brock Canton's single scored a run as Gregory led 6-5 with one out.

Ross Oliver's grounder to third wasn't fielded cleanly and one run scored to lift Gregory to a 7-5 advantage.

Aaron Sundquist's base hit to right scored one more run and Gregory led it 8-5.

After Grant Thomas got out, Gregory had two outs.

Jaden Frank's single scored one and left the bases loaded before Tyson Maher delivered an up-the-middle single that scored two runs.

All told, Gregory scratched out seven runs in the top of the 5th to earn the 11-5 win.

Massive triple header of Jr. Legion baseball going on tonight as Gregory is currently taking on Colome.

Following that game, its Colome vs. Winner
