Tiger Tails... and Tiger Tales
Sep 10, 2019

The season is early, and we have started looking at the seeding for each of the 11-Man classes of football.  Interestingly, looking at 11B we noticed the #5 seed is the MVP Titans ...  AND the Mobridge-Pollock Tigers!  We have had several conversations with people and the MOPO squad has been repeatedly mentioned, as the hidden gem and unknown commodity.

So, we quickly took a look at the team by the "Mighty Mo" and found they are undefeated (2-0) with victories over Miller/Highmore-Harrold (48-0) and Lead/Deadwood (42-0).  Not bad... averaging 45 points per game, while only surrendering 3.5 ppg!

Examining the components of the early season success we find:

#12 QB  Caden Hensley 17 Comp  21 Att  299 Yds  6 TD  0 Int  80.9%

#7   RB  Gavin Heinert 23  Rush  177  Yds  7.69 YPC

#81 WR Reese Cerney  5 Rush 129 Yds  2 TD  25.8 YPC 2  Rec 56 Yds  1TD  28.0 YPR

#84  WR Bryston Goehring  9  Rec  99 Yds  2 TD  11.0 YPR 1 Int

#81  WR Reese Cerney  2  Rec  56 Yds  1 TD  28.0 YPR

# 3  WR Braden Goehrig  4 Rec  67 Yds  2  TD  16.8 YPR

#33  TE/LB  Trace Cerney  2 Rec  64  Yds  1 TD  32.0 YPR 11 Tkls

# 4  WR/LB Cayden Eisemen 2 Rec  27 Yds   10 Tkls  2  Ints

The schedule could set up nicely for some late season SHOWDOWNs!  The last two at HOME.  Noting, the last being with ironically... TIGERS...  the Groton Area Tigers.

  • Oct 4  Webster Area Bearcats  Webster, SD
  • Oct 11 Redfield Pheasants Mobridge, SD
  • Oct 18 Groton Area Tigers Mobridge, SD

BUT, before getting there can they defeat the likes of Aberdeen Roncalli, who they face fresh off last year's victory ended a 19-year drought?  Can they handle the LONG road trip to Hot Springs to face the Bison?  Can they handle a 'hiccup' opponent in the Sisseton Redment, who can't be overlooked?

Hmmmm!  It's delicious; isn't it!
