Chamberlain senior, Tiegen Priebe uncorked an explosive triple jump Tuesday at MVP

Tiegen Priebe turned himself into an EXPLOSIVE athlete

There are so many great athletic achievements going on across the state of South Dakota right now, that my mind is always abuzz with who did this and how far or fast was she kind of realizations.

Saw one of those great achievements the other day at the Mount-Vernon-Plankinton track meet as Chamberlain senior, Tiegen Priebe uncorked a monstrous 44'4.5" triple jump.

Now, to my knowlege, this is the first time Priebe, maybe any Priebe, tried the triple jump and he soared all the way to No. 2 in the Class A rankings...WHAT?

That's incredibe!

Triple Jump - 40'08.00"
1. Janke, Jaxon 44'08.25" Madison
2. Priebe, Tiegen 44'04.50" Chamberlain
3. Freeman, Landon 43'03.25" Tri-Valley

As the high-school athletic year has moved on, I've done a lot of listening to various tidbits of this and that. Some, I can't repeat, some just speak volumes.

Not too long ago, was in ear-shot of Chamberlain's strength coach, Joe Hutmacher, who noted to another pal of mine that Priebe spent a lot of time in the gym this summer, and in fact, improved his dead-lift by 100 lbs.

"That's an explosive lift," I was told.

Hmmmm, lifting translating into explosive results on the track...Hmmmmmm, interesting.

Priebe's had a terrific senior year up in Chamberlain, and the work, the results haven't gone unnoticed. After helping lead Chamberlain to back-to-back state tournaments, Priebe signed to play basketball at Dakota Wesleyan.

DWU is getting a hell of an athlete!

But, while his basketball athletic future awaits at DWU, Priebe is leaving his mark in multiple other areas this spring.

He's ranked third in the 400 meters:

400m Dash - 51.90
1. Kuil, Cameron 49.00 Winner
2. Miller, Corbin 50.60 Hill City
3. Priebe, Tiegen 50.70 Chamberlain

He's ranked 4th in the 300 hurdles.

4. Priebe, Tiegen 41.30 Chamberlain
5. Ferguson, Braeden 41.90 Spearfish
6. Priebe, Riggs 41.90 Chamberlain

He's ranked third in a loaded Class A long jump list..

Long Jump - 20'02.00"
1. Freeman, Landon 22'04.75" Tri-Valley
2. Kortan, Chase 22'02.00" Bon Homme
3. Priebe, Tiegen 22'01.00" Chamberlain

He's ranked No. 2 in the triple jump, an event he just tried for the first time the other day...

Triple Jump - 40'08.00"
1. Janke, Jaxon 44'08.25" Madison
2. Priebe, Tiegen 44'04.50" Chamberlain
3. Freeman, Landon 43'03.25" Tri-Valley
4. Breck, Holdyn 43'02.00" Lennox
5. Janke, Jadon 42'03.50" Madison
6. Siemonsma, Sheldon 41'09.50" Dell Rapids
7. Marone, Rich 41'06.75" Chamberlain

I'd say he's pretty rank at track!

Alright, so I saw another really great performance from a Chamberlain senior, at that same MVP meet. I'll get to that in a sec but I have to get in my dig of the day...

So, Sent Riggs Priebe a photo from Howard Wood the other day. Nothing special, just a relay photo....

"Man, that kid looks fast," was the response...

Now back to the story...Noticed out of the corner of my eye the other day that Chamberlain senior Rich Marone popped a really good 400 meters, in that 52-flat range.

Gotta figure Chamberlain will try to load up at least one relay for the state meet.

If Tiegen Priebe can run 50-flat...

And Rich Marone can run 52-flat...

If then Riggs Priebe would pull the plow and run in the Bryce Hammer (Area), as he's previously stated he could, the Cubs would have the makings of a pretty salty 4x400 squad.

Just saying...

Good luck to all the area athletes as Region track commences this week.
