Sunshine Bible's Burma honing his skills on the hallowed hills of the Rosebud
Jul 6, 2017

By Rich Winter

Just about every weekened here on the Rosebud Reservation, the Rosebud Sioux Tribe's Diabetes Prevention program holds a run/walk event. Ambitious runners can do a 5k race while those that walk are asked to do two miles.

And just about every weekend, the Burma family from Sunshine Bible is in attendance.

Kind of a cool story actually as Sunshine Bible's head wrestling coach, Jason Burma married a gal from out in these parts, believe it was Parmelee. And so, every summer the family comes back and helps out on the farm for a bit. For Burma's son, one of the better cross-country runners in the Class B ranks, the opportunity to compete in 5k's, the Billy Bills half-marathon coming up, and the sheer hills and variety of training grounds gives this young fella the opportunity to get better on some of the better training terrain in South Dakota.

Burma is no slouch in multiple sports...Take a look back at his sophomore season at Sunshine Bible.
