Raiders pick up much needed win against Kadoka
Sep 5, 2017

By Rich Winter

After dropping their opener to Wall, 40-22, coach Michael Kieffer's crew needed to rebound against a 2-0 Kadoka squad that had been looking stellar in their first two outings.

No stats available but Lyman prevailed 16-12, but, let's keep in mind here that Kadoka beat Philip, 28-12 and then Faith, 40-6 so for Lyman to travel to Kougar country and get a win, well, that's a big deal.

Five seniors on the roster, Sage Mowry, Jerwyn Wilson, Jack Miller, QB Tate Wagner and OL/DL Bristol Cleveland.

Home opener this week against a Jones County/White River team that has yet to find the win column. Be great to get a win heading into the Hill City contest in two weeks.

Volleyball team:

A lot of fire-power missing from coach Alyssa Binger's squad that went to the state tournament a year ago.

Little bit up-and-down right now for Binger's squad who beat White River in four sets but then lost to Gregory, at Gregory on Thursday night. Over the weekend, Lyman beat St. Francis (25-16 and 25-21) then lost to Boyd County Nebraska (26-28 and 23-25). The girls lost another tough one to Gregory, (12-25 and 21-25). The ladies rebounded with a hard-fought, 3-set win over Jones County (25-23, 26-28 and 25-6).

Overall, 2-2 at the Gregory tournament and a 4th place finish.

Cross-country:

Joel Milton's squad had the weekend off, but things rev up on Thursday when the crew travels to Desmet on Thursday. Results will be poted to the Lyman Raider page as soon as they become available.
