Pakistan's Jacob Lee and his Trojan teammates are at the Region meet in Pierre today

Parkston and Jacob Lee COMING IN HOT to Region 3 golf
Sep 25, 2017

By Rich Winter

A lot going on across the South Dakota prep scene this week, and we start with a bang as golfers from south-central South Dakota converge in Pierre today for the Region 3 championships.

Teams from Chamberlain, CEB, MOPO, Parkston, Redfield/Doland, St. Francis Indian, Todd County, Wagner and Winner area converge in Pierre to find out who is going to make it to the Class A state tournament next week near Sioux City.

Chamberlain is the defending region champ but always tough Parkston looks like the team to beat as Tyler Hockett's crew put it to the rest of the field at the pre-region tuneup last week.

The Trojans shot a 73, 74, 86, 93 - 419 with senior Jacob Lee and Quinn Bormann going 1 and 2 for medalist honors.

Expecting the Trojans to win but look for a heck of a battle between MOPO and Chamberlain for that second automatic team qualifying spot.

Some good golfers in the field. Look for Chamberlain's Cameron Caldwell to be right there when the dust settles with teammate, Drayton Priebe not far behind.

MOPO's Noah Fried was 4th at the Pre-Region meet and he'll need to shoot well for MOPO to hold off Chamberlain.

St. Francis Indian's Thomas DeNoyer and Todd County's Bryce (Butters) Hammer have been battling it out on the course this season. Both will make it to state but the question is...HOW LOW CAN YA GO
