One last time INTO THE FIRE for White River's Justice Morrison
Mar 18, 2017

By Justice Morrison,

I think the hardest part about losing the first game at state is refocusing yourself and getting yourself ready for that next game. It's unbelievably emotional here. You work hard to get here, and you lose that first one and you don't even give yourself a chance it sucks. Losing sucks. And there's nothing anyone can say that will fix your hurt. But again, that's why it's important to remember what it's about. Building those relationships with the people around you.

We played Platte-Geddes, and they are no pushover. They took out #2 Corsica Stickney in districts. Same pre game ritual. Same everything. Different music (I'm superstitious) but there wasn't that...pressure? I'm not sure if that's the right word but I'll use it anyways. We were a lot more loose. I thought anyways... we jumped out to an early lead, up 8 at half. We weren't playing great, we were tired and just a little slow. Second half, we were ballin up! Got up by 16 at one point and mostly just clung. I can't tell you enough, how much that picked us up. Winning is better than losing haha.

We had guys come in, make some plays, get some experience. It was all you could hope for in a win. Now my final game in a White River Tiger uniform is set. Langford Lions at 1:45 in the Barnett Center. Consolation Championship. I went and watched the evening games. I have a lot of friends playing for different teams. It sucks...not giving yourself a chance. And it'll be something that will bother me for awhile I'm sure.

Now I have all this time to sit and ponder about tomorrow. My final game. Emotional will be an understatement. My final days are coming to an end. And I'm unbelievably lucky to be ending it with my guys and with Langford.
