Hill City is new No. 1 in Class A cross

Movement in Class A cross-country poll - Rangers new No. 1
Sep 26, 2017

By Rich Winter

Some pretty good results from the Rapid City Invite, particularly from the Hill City girls who made some NOYES in Rapid City.

6th - Karlee Simmons - 19:23

23rd - Marion Hohn - 20:16

25th - Janean Hanka - 20:23

Of note here, Custer was led in Rapid City by Mallory Delmont

8th - Delmont - 19:35

Hohn and Hanka both finished in front of the next Custer runners and by virtue of that meet, which Custer ran without Tori Glazier, the Hill City Rangers are the new No. 1 in Class A cross country.

Class A girls poll - Week of Sep. 26th

1st - Hill City

2nd - Custer

3rd. Sioux Falls Christian

4th - St. Thomas More

5th - Winner

Beresford and Lennox dropped out of the poll this week. I think St. Thomas More has fell off everyone's radar. Don't think Haleigh Timmer, the defending Class A state champ is running this year....Could be late in the season. That said, STM always finishes like a freight train and with Klaire Kirsch up there pushing the pace you are sure to see some athletes coming on here late in the season.

Winner has been Tough all year, let's see how they do in Tuesday's Todd County Invitational.

Boys poll: No change...

Class a boys:

1st - Custer

2nd - Sioux Falls Christian

3rd - West Central

T4th - Beresford

T4th - Stanley County

Talked a bit with Custer's No. 1 this week and he did not feel weel at Friday's Rapid City Invitational. That said, he and Custer ran well. Sioux Falls Christian just keeps winning and getting better out east. Liking this Stanley County team with Meiners and VanDenHemal red-lining it for the Buffs.

Todd County and St. Francis are kinda sleeping on the back end of this list. St. Francis needs a 4th runner to step forward and Todd County needs to be a little more consistent although they are getting better.

Results and photos tomorrow from today's Todd County Invite.

Class B poll comes out tomorrow and it looks like Ipswich and James Valley Christain are in a dead heat for No. 1
