Miller's Jarek Kindle jumped 21-3 at the Big Dakota Conference meet

Miller's Kindle leaving his mark
Apr 28, 2017

By Rich Winter

Enjoyed the Big Dakota Conference Meet just over a week ago now. Lot of good athletes, some that got a tad overshadowed by huge performances from others in their respective events.

One of those overshadowed guys was Miller's Jarik Kindle who had terrific efforts in the long jump and 100 meters.

While Chamberlain's Tiegen Priebe was launching himself over 22-feet to win the long jump, Kindle had a bomb effort of his own, finishing second and reaching out to 21-3 that ranks him No. 6 in the Class A  boys long jump.

Long Jump - 20'02.00"
1. Freeman, Landon 22'04.75" Tri-Valley
2. Kortan, Chase 22'02.00" Bon Homme
3. Priebe, Tiegen 22'01.00" Chamberlain
4. Aanderud, Jake 21'09.50" St. Thomas More
5. Lohan, Jesse 21'03.75" Canton
6. Kindle, Jarek 21'03.00" Miller

Yes, Winner's Cameron Kuil destroyed the field with a sub 10.5 at the Big Dakota meet, but, sliding in behind him was Kindle, who clocked something under 11.1 to pre-qualify for the state meet.

100m Dash - 11.20
1. Kuil, Cameron 10.50 Winner
2. Aanderud, Jake 10.60 St. Thomas More
3. Leader Charge, Russell 10.90 Red Cloud
4. Nelson, Parker 10.90 SF Christian
5. Robinson, Zeke 11.00 Elk Point-Jefferson
6. Kindle, Jarek 11.10 Miller

Have been keeping my eye on Miller's Cole Sargent in the distance events. At the Big Dakota Meet, Sargent ran easy, and fast against kind of a chilly wind that knocked down times in the distance events.

Still though, he's got high pre-qualifiers in the 1600 and 3200.

1600m Run - 4:42.30
1. DeWeerd, Caleb 4:22.70 SF Christian

5. Julian, Luke 4:36.00 St. Thomas More
6. Kleinwolterink, Keegan 4:36.70 Tea Area
7. Sargent, Cole 4:39.10 Miller

3200m Run - 10:29.90
1. Peters, Derick 9:45.80 West Central
2. DeWeerd, Caleb 9:50.30 SF Christian
3. Peters, Braden 10:06.00 West Central
4. Julian, Luke 10:09.20 St. Thomas More
5. Kleinwolterink, Keegan 10:09.80 Tea Area
6. VanZee, Lance 10:10.30 SF Christian
7. Abraham, Noah 10:11.20 SF Christian
8. Sorensen, Justin 10:18.00 Vermillion
9. Sargent, Cole 10:19.10 Miller

Going to be an interesting stretch run here for the Miller boys. Should get a number of kids to the state track meet, several, should reach their respective podiums.
