Mad props to the Chamberlain Cubs...Anyone, anytime, anywhere
Feb 8, 2017

By Rich Winter

Don't have an exact box score in front of me, but have to give some serious props to Adam Nelson's Chamberlain Cubs boys who slammed the door shut on the rest of the Region 6A competition when they defeated Crow Creek 68-44.

Pretty impressive performance considering that less than 24-hours prior to the Crow Creek game, the Chamberlain kids lost 62-56 to Class A's No. 1 rated team, Madison.

And then, to get home late, get up and go to school and go out and execute against the teams biggest rival, that's hella impressive.

Lotta teams fall victim to being leg weary or just not playing well in back-to-back games. Not Chamberlain! Have seen the Cubs twice in person this season, and all they do is execute. They go out and run their offense, they play team defense and they just get after people.

The Cubs are 12-3 on the season and just on the fringes of being ranked in the Class A poll.

Check out who they lost to, and where...

Jan. 6 - 78-69 @ Dell Rapids

Jan. 28 - 74-67 @ Sioux Falls Christian

Feb. 8 - 62-56 @ Madison.

That's as tough a road schedule as you will find in Class A of South Dakota. Put those games in Chamberlain, and the Cubs are right there with the best-of-the best.

Another back-to-back test this weekend...Let's try Wagner in Wagner on Friday and then Langford, the best team in Class B, in Mitchell, on Saturday.

Then, Parkston @ Parkston

Then, Aberdeen Roncalli in Chamberlain (Bout time someone came to Chamberlain)

And then, at McLaughlin to wrap up the regular season.

Solid work for a team that plays basketball the right way!
