The Miller Rustlers improved to 14-2 after winning the MOPO tournament

MILLER wins MOPO tourney - 14-2 but DeBoer wants MORE

Miller Athletic Director Darin Hunter might have to spend part of this week making space for the trophies that Linda DeBoer and the Miller Rustlers keep bringing home.

Last week it was the Big Dakota Conference tournament, this weekend it was a win at the MOPO tournament. Heading into a matchup with Chamberlain this week, Miller is 14-2 and ROLLING!

"Both tournament victories were expected of our team. We were the No. 1 seeds but that doesn't guarantee a championship," DeBoer said. "The girls knew that they would have to play well together to succeed."

While DeBoer is pumped about the tournament titles, she's using a couple of losses to Class B powers, Warner and Northwestern as motivation to remind her team she thinks they can play with anyone.

"The losses to Warner and Northwester are har to take because I feel we have the players to compete with their caliber of play," DeBoer said. "Neither match was our best by far; that’s what is disheartening. If we lose playing our best, I can handle that. The girls need to get it out of their heads that they can’t play with them."

While the Rustlers have gone through some injuries, DeBoer said younger players are stepping forward.

"Emma Breland has replaced Kelby Tracy who is out with a concussion from the Northwestern match. Emma is playing well along with Elise Brooks and Josie Stevens. Erin Moncur had a good Big Dakota tournament for us also. The future is looking bright for Miller volleyball."

After a weekend off from tournament play the Rustlers will lace them up for the Redfield Tournament.
