Justice Jessop is part of a Lyman offensive line that is starting to MOVE people

Lyman County SPANKS New Underwood - Raiders starting to ROLL
Oct 1, 2017

By Rich Winter

Boy, a couple things really stand out from Lyman's 22-0 win over New Underwood.

1. Lyman offense - 47 carries, 254 yards

2. Lyman defense holds a high scoring New Underwood team to ZERO points.

In the 9A football ranks, keeping it on the ground and playing great defense is an almost certain recipe for success. After beating Philip last week, 38-12 and now the 22-0 win over New Underwood that will almost certainly vault the Raiders into the No. 2 slot in 9A's Region 4, well, you get the feeling that Michael Kieffer's crew is starting to ROLL.

Tage Wagner continues to run a productive show for the Raiders. On Friday, the senior was 7-12 passing and added 55 yards rushing.

* Carter Collins - 22 rushes, 164 yards

Now, the BIG NUMBERS: DEFENSE

* New Underwood - 26 yards rushing

* NU - 53 yards Passing

* NU - 79 TOTAL YARDS

Ya win a lot games by playing that kind of defense.

Remaning schedule:

* Home vs. Rapid City Christian

* Home vs. 9AA - Kimball-White/Lake - That will be a good test for the Raiders heading into the playoffs. KWL is starting to play some good ball after starting the season 0-4.
