Lady Warriors FINISH to take down Lower Brule
Sep 6, 2017

By Rich Winter and Matilda Anderson

Tuesday was a good day to be a St. Francis Lady Warrior, especially if you were junior, Matilda Anderson. Young lady celebrated her 17th birthday yesterday, and after a long day of school she and her teammates finished off Lower Brule to pick up their first win of the season.

Scores of the match were: St. Francis Indian def. Lower Brule, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17, 25-14.

Alright, so asked Anderson about the girls coming out of the gate slowly, two home losses and not winning a game in the Gregory tournament and Anderson said she loves her team, and they are playing well, they just need to learn to FINISH!!

"Yeah we did awesome for our first game playing together on the court," Anderson said. "We just have to learn how to finish the game."

Regarding the performance at the Gregory tournament, Anderson had this to say.

"Each of those games we could have won because we were right there but our finishing needs to rise," Anderson said. "All these teams had some good hitters so we adjusted to that. Plus the court felt smaller at the Gregory tournament because we played the 2 court but yeah I believe our team will come together and we can do some wicked things this season."

Well, wicked they did as the Warriors put together a wicked cap to a birthday for a terrific young lady over in St. Francis.  Lady Warriors will be in action again Thursday at the Warrior dome in St. Francis vs. the Marty Braves.
