The Philip girls captured the team title at the Faith Invite

Lady Scotties CRUSH it at Ryan Day MEMORIAL in Fatih
Sep 5, 2017

By Rich Winter

It is pretty apparant after going through Danielle Terkildsen's Facebook photo collage recap of the Faith cross-country meet, that the Scottie family extends ALL the way from top to bottom. Lot of young ones in there coming up and that bodes well for the Philip pipeline to continue pumping out some great cross-country runners.

Girls results: Well, well, well, looks like Coach Ralph Kroetch has the girls running pretty well. Dylin Terkildsen finished 2nd in the race but Annnabelle McGlavay, Bailey Bierle and Grace Pekron with 5th, 6th and 7th.

Philip easily won the team title to edge Rapid City Christian and New Underwood.

Like, like, like how the 2nd, 3rd and 4th runners ran together and did so competitively. Look for this team to get stronger and stronger as the season rolls along.

Boys results:

9th - Ethan Ferguson - 21:03

19th - Keldon Fitzgerald - 22:47

Girls JV: Rehgan Larson won the girls 3000 meter JV with a time of 13:20

Boys JV: 6th - Reese Henry

Girls Jr. High 1600 meters:

1st - Quinn Terkildsen - 6:46

Boys Jr. High 1600 meters

2nd - Layton Terkildsen - 6:10

3rd - Wakely Burns - 6:12

What else is going on in Philip country:

Football: Scotties lost to New Underwood 16-30 on Friday. Spoke with Kaylor Pinney via Facebook for just a moment on Saturday. He said he felt like the defense was ok but it was taking the offense a minute to get going.

Scotties host Rapid City Christian on Friday before a bye week slips into the rotation next weekend.

Update on Hunter Peterson as of Aug. 31 -

Update on Hunter, August 31... Doctor came in this afternoon during wound change when everything was all open to look and said it will be awhile before they can do his surgery. It's not ready to cover yet. He said soonest would be 3 weeks but is still a waiting game. Also whenever they can do surgery he would still need to stay for a few weeks after that. He said soonest he could go home would probably be middle of October😢 . Hunter is such a home body and is very homesick so was very bummed when he heard that. They also made a cast he can wear on that leg to help with foot drop. He doesn't have control to lift his foot up by himself and his muscles are very tight so hopefully that will help. He also is in a boot to help with that on his left leg also. He is working very hard at therapy and is getting around in the wheel chair good. It helps learning transfers and stuff that he has decent upper body strength. Although has lost lots of muscle, especially in his legs. They look 1/2 of the size they were before. He is not sleeping great at night so hopefully we can get that figured out because his days are staying really busy and needs to start on schoolwork so he doesn't get too far behind. I ask you all to pray nothing gets infected in this waiting game and his nerves and muscles start working again. Also for pain to quit so we can get him off so many meds. Bible verse:
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4. Thanks again for all the prayers and everything you all have done for Hunter and our whole family.

Volleyball:

First home match of the night for Ella Smith and the ladies tonight vs. Jones County. So far, so good as Philip is 2-0 with road wins over Dupree (25-15, 25-19, 15-15) and a 4-set win over Kadoka (25-21, 25-23, 16-25 and 25-23)
