Guess I've known for quite a while now that Bennett County junior to be, Tee Allen had qualified for the National High School Finals Rodeo, but, after looking at the state results I realized that the top two qualifiers from South Dakota both hail from Bennett County.
Lyle Dillon, whose hometown is listed as Allen, South Dakota won the state high-school bull riding competition by edging out Allen.
Here are the top four from South Dakota that will be competing starting this weekend at those National finals.
Lyle Dillon |
64 |
Tee Allen |
50 |
Hunter Johnson |
47 |
Blade Forman |
38 |
Can't say as I know much about Dillon other than if it bucks, he'll probably ride it based on a few photos of steer riding and bareback riding on the internet from Jerry Matthews.
For Allen, does the kid eve have an off-season?
Standout on the Warriors football team last season. Was killing it in wrestling last season (had an early season injury), but ran off like 25-straight wins before running into a bruising region bracket at I believe 160 lbs. One of the better Class A high-jumpers in South Dakota, Allen placed 6th at the state meet this year, his sophomore season.
And if not mistaken, seems like I saw Allen's picture in the Bennett County Booster as being part of a Legion team that recently won a Colorado tournament.
And he rodeos....if there is time, and he's good at it.
At any rate, good luck to the tuff-guy bull riders and all the other South Dakota competitors that will be attending the national finals.
