Canton C-Hawks vs Sioux Falls Christian

Houston (SDHSAA)... We Have a Problem
Nov 10, 2017

Well, well, well...

The Sioux Falls Christian Chargers are your 2017 11B State Football Champions!  Or ARE THEY?

Of particular interest, watching the BEE Seahawks trail 27-12 were the two MISSED extra points by Arend in the State Championship game.  These misses conjured up memories of first round action, specifically the Canton C-Hawks vs the Sioux Falls Christian Chargers.

The First Round game was played at the University of Sioux Falls.  In this game the Chargers would defeat the C-Hawks in Overtime.  THE REST OF THE STORY...  The Goal Posts are not at High School regulation!  NFL and NCAA goalposts are 18 feet 6 inches wide, while High School goalposts are 23 feet 4 inches wide.  A DIFFERENCE just shy of 5 feet.

Canton's kicker missed two extra points in regulation just wide of the NCAA GOALPOST width.  On a regulation High School field he would have made BOTH of these kicks to defeat and OUST Sioux Falls Christian from the 11B Play-offs!

Additionally, the goalposts at the USD DakotaDome are NOT set to High School regulation!

On the Home page of the www.sdhsaa.com site it states "The SDHSAA is committed to the ideals that will provide EQUITABLE participation opportunities..."  Equitable defined is FAIR and IMPARTIAL.

It is our opinion that the SDHSAA MUST make teams, whom play on college fields, use REGULATION High School width goalposts.  Otherwise, State Championships will be awarded with an asterisk attached.

What say you?!?!?
