Higmore-Harrold sophomore eyeing podium at State B cross
Sep 18, 2017

By Rich Winter

Love the Chamberlain Invitational cross-country meet. One of the first big meets in south-central South Dakota and a meet that draws teams from as far away as Garretson to come to the high plains to run into some different and stiff competition.

Was scrolling through some of Kernit Grimshaw's photos from last week and came across a young lady with a Pirates uniform...Hmmm, who dat I thought.

Well, that would be Highmore-Harrold sophomore Oakley Jandreau. Looked at the results from that Chamberlain meet today and running against some really solid competition with a lot of Class A schools, Jandreau finished 27th with a time of 22:40 for 5k.

Interested to see if Jandreau can bring that time down a bit.

Last season. running for Kimball, Jandreau finished 58th at the Class B state cross country meet with a time of 23:10.

The Chamberlain meet suggests Jandreau is close.

If we take a look back at last season, at the Class B state meet, it took 21:37 to make the podium.

Have a smallish team up in Highmore-Harrold for Brian Marso's squad. Jandreau the sophomore, is joined by Maddie Knox an 8th grader on the varsity.

Keep an eye on this young lady. Have about a month to get ready for the big dance. Like the experience of having gone to the state meet a year ago. Won't be fazed by the field, the crowd or the experience.

Let's go Pirates...
