Does Levi McClanahan bleed purple...Winner senior leads state in HBP
Jul 1, 2017

By Rich Winter

Have seen soon-to-be Winner senior Levi McClanahan play in about eight baseball games this spring and I have not been to a game where he has not been hit by a pitch.

It's uncanny!

Sometimes he gets hit once, sometimes twice and I do believe I've seen him reach base three times in a single game, each by staying put and taking one-(forty) for the team.

After missing his sophomore year in baseball and the summer leading into his junior year, Winner coach Drew Weber commented early in the year how the return of McCanahan would help out the Warriors.

A solid first baseman who always seems to scoop everything thrown at him, McClanahan always seems to be in the thick of things at just about every game.

But, he's not solely a hit-by-pitch guy, McClanahan unleashed a homer in a Legion game with Platte last week and is hitting the ball well as the bigger summer tournaments come up.

With a new look Winner football team coming back this fall, McClanahan looks to take over one of the offensive guard spots. If your a defender coming out to take on the pulling guard, ya better be ready cuz McClanahan has shown he's not afraid to get down and dirty. Guessing he will figure mightily into Dan Aaker's plans as the football season starts with practice in about 30 days.
