The White River Tigers were champions of the White River summer league...AGAIN!

Do they ever REBUILD in White River South Dakota
Jun 29, 2017

Well, South Dakota, you had your chance...

At the beginning of the 2016 basketball season, Eldon Marshall's guys looked vulnerable. A couple of graduation losses and some transfers out of White River led some (self included a little) to wonder if the Tigers might miss the state tournament for the first time in well over a decade.

The Tigers did not win the 2016 summer league championship.

The Tigers lost in the quarters of the Lakota Nation tournament.

The Tigers lost to Colome in the championship of the Jones County Tournament.

And yet, when the dust had cleared and the time was right, White River got hot and closed the season with another state tournament appearance.

Gotta tell ya, White River was young last season, and coach Eldon Marshall kinda massaged his freshman into their respective roles.

Well, the freshman are sophomore now and judging by their performances in winning the White River summer league, the guys are gearing up for another run with a bunch of young, hungry guys mixed in with some nice veterans and suddenly the cupboard looks stocked for at least the next three years.

Ahhhh, White River basketball!

As I live in Mission, I hear the talk, the stuff that people say...Class B school, don't play a schedule....blah blah blah...

Really liked the accompanying verbeage with the Facebook post associated with the picture and the post.

"Playing all summer, lifting all summer, getting better all summer"

Nothing cocky just steady as she goes and putting in the work it takes to be one of the all time great basketball dynasties in South Dakota.
