Couldn't find a football photo BUT, well-done WAGNER

DEFENSE GALORE as WAGNER upends Redfield/Doland
Sep 30, 2017

By Rich Winter

I could start this piece off by recapping the happy offensive highlights that sent the Wagner Red Raider football team to its first win of the season, 28-23 over Redfield/Doland.

Could, but that would be an injustice to a hard-hitting Wagner defense that set the tone forcing four fumbles. And so, in spite of being outgained 452-287, Wagner, who came into the game 0-5, strapped em on and got their first win of the season.

Big Numbers:

* Emilio Cournoyer - 17 tackles and a pick

* Dawson Lensing - 14 tackles

* Preston Nedved - 12 tackles, 103 yards receiving, 23-yard receiving TD

* Jaden Peters - 148 yards passing, 1 TD

* Jace Johnson - 2, 4th quarter rushing TD's.

That is an AWESOME win in a TUFF ball-game for Jason Knevel, Riley Kirwan, Mike Koupal and Jonathon Podzimek

Wagner (1-5) will play at Winner next week. Redfield-Doland (0-7) will host Groton Area on Oct. 13.
