Castle wood is undefeated and part of a loaded 9B field that is about to go head to head
Class 9B looks LOADED - A look at the 6 UNDEFEATED Sep 28, 2017
By Rich Winter
Well, well, well, we are hitting the stretch run of the high school football regular season and I gotta tell ya, Class 9B is catching my attention.
Poor Wall has been sitting in that first-team receiving votes category for about five weeks now as those teams in front of them simply refuse to lose.
Here is this week's 9B poll
Class 9B
Colman-Egan (29) 5-0 167 1
Colome (6) 5-0 144 2
Sully Buttes 5-0 104 3
Castlewood 5-0 60 4
Harding County 6-0 39 5
Wall - 5-0
Boy, you start looking ahead at some of the games coming up in the next two weeks and I gotta think that first-year Wall coach, Lex Heathershaw is licking his chops at the carnage that is about to hit 9B in the next few weeks.
Let's take a look at the top-teams in 9B.
1. Colman - Egan: I think everyone looked at Colman-Egan dropping out of the 9A ranks was the prohibitive favorite in 9B.
CE has been impressive:

CE should roll this week over Oldham-Ramona/Rutland but strap it up for that Oct. 6 game vs. Castlewood. Both teams undefeated...Region title, playoff seedings, what is each team made of...those questions will be semi answered on Oct. 6.
2. Colome - Like CE, Colome has just been killing people. The schedule on a normal year is just fine but first-year coach Ben Connot's boys have really been rolling people. Like that the group faced a little adversity against Alcester-Hudson, trailing 14-0...But hey, if you hit Colome in the mouth, this group is going to hit you back and Connot's kids rallied with 64 unanswered points to claim that game

Colome will handle Scotland this week but dang if Oct. 6 isn't going to be reckoning day for this team as well. No. 1 9A, Corsica-Stickney comes to town to take on Colome, in Colome...Monster game with playoff implications, perfect seasons AND, every time these two hook up it is an absolute war. Game will be webcast from www.liveticket.tv
3. Sully Buttes - Sometimes I think people just go ahead and pencil in the top two teams as voted on by the media into the championship games.

Sully Buttes is undefeated and the one that really stands out is that Oct. 15 win over then top ranked 9A school Warner, 24-18, in WARNER.
Big game again this week as the Chargers head to Leola to take on another undefeated team, No. 5 from Class 9AA, North Border. Sully Buttes is going to be one of those sneaky tuff teams and if your in the 9B bracket you don't want to see them looming in the semis.
Castlewood - Alright, so what are we to make of Doug Reusink's Castlewood team that is 5-0? Met Doug this summer and just at first glance, Castlewood is going to be tough, disciplined and TUFF.

Maybe a little shaky early but the offense has been clicking and that D just seems to get better every week.
That said, holy TUFF schedule for Castlewood.
* Home vs. undefeated and No. 6 ranked in 9AA, Arlington/Lake Preston
* Vs. Colman-Egan in Coleman - That should be a dandy and will certainly clear up any margin of difference between these two power-houses.
5. Harding County - I never quite know what to make of the Ranchers, the little tiny school out west. Somehow the football team ALWAYS just goes deep and very often the basketball team makes it to the dance.
To be honest, I'm not completely sold on the schedule as a 20-16 win over 0-5 Herried-Selby suggests HC is a long-shot to go to the dome. But, when the playoffs start, the Ranchers will be undefeated with games against Newell and Dupree remaining on the schedule.

6. Wall - Welll, the Eagles are going to hit the post-season undefeated. Heathershaw was a heck of a player and you can bet in the coming years this will be a squad to contend with. Thus far an explosive offense has been carrying this team.
