Bon Homme's Bryce Scienzinski is Panic Button's Week 1 Player of the week
Aug 20, 2017

By Rich Winter

One of the games that really had my attention going into Friday was that of Parkston at Bon Homme. Believe that Bon Homme is ranked No. 3 in Class 9AA and that Parkston, who moved down from 11B was on the road looking to make their mark in a 9AA field that looks Gregory heavy on top and then who knows..

While the game turned into one of those backyard brawls with hits galore and TD's rare during Bon Homme's 6-0 win, Bryce Scienzinski stood tall in every facet of the game for the Cavaliers.

* Under a minute to go and Parkston driving, Scienzinki batted down a pass from Parkston QB, Dawson Semmler and the Cavaliers ran out the clock for a massive week 1 victory.

* In 6-0 wins, the guy who scores the TD is always the hero, but, Scienzinski faced some adversity early on with several mishandled snaps from the center. When it counted though, in the second quarter, the young fella took the snap and scored on a QB keeper.

* Scienzinski intercepted a first-half pass to snuff out a Parkston drive just before half.

In big, low-scoring games there aren't a lot of plays that stand out from a statistical point of view but Scienzinski pained a Kandinsky on opening with three big plays that helped the Cavaliers to a 1-0 start.

For his efforts, Scienzinski is this week's Panic Button's Player of the Week...
