Big week down in BSC COUGAR country
Aug 28, 2017

By Rich Winter

Holy crud, what a busy weekend of high-school sports going on over the weekend. Seemed like through bits and pieces of looking here and there to see how Kray Person did in cross-country, how the football team did, Video highlights from the Colome...Burke/South Central, volleyball game.

That's a lot of places to look for all these things, so let's just bring em on to one page and see how this works.

(This is an experiment, first blog I'm doing like this, wanna see how it does and what you think of it I guess.

How about that Burke/South Central football game...

Burke/South Central 24, Gayville-Volin 22

So Gayville-Volin comes out and promplty jumps out to a 16-0 lead with two first quarter TD's. Just like that B/SC is down by two scores. But, the guys responded with a 1st-quarter TD of their own on a 5-yard TD run from Finn Hanson.

Second quarter, Brock Karbo scored a 5-yard keeper and later in the perioed, Karbo hit junior Tyrone Minzer (keep your eyes on this kid, good athlete)...for a 10-yard TD reception.

Sounds like some drama late in this one but that is a great response from coach Mike Sebern.

Scoring summary

First quarter

GV: Taven McKee 50 run (2-pt conversion good)

GV: Tristan Gustad 1 run (2-pt conversion good)

BSC: Finn Hanson 5 run (conversion failed)

Second quarter

BSC: Brock Karbo 5 run (2-pt conversion good)

BSC: Tyrone Minzer 10 pass from Karbo (2-pt conversion good)

Fourth quarter

BSC: Safety

GV: Jacob Hirsch 13 pass from Gustad (conversion failed)

Well, then out of the corner of my eye I see that BSC played Colome on liveticket.tv...Turned out to be a pretty close match with Colome winning the first set 20-25 but then BSC winning the next three, 25-19, 25-9 and 25-18.

That match can be seen here... http://cougarstv.live/index.php?page=volleyball-game&id=259

At any rate, Billie Jo Indahl looks like she has a squad down three. looking forward to seeing more of Rhahna Schweigert, Teah Serr and company getting after it this year.

Don't think I saw the results on-line anywhere, but did at one point look up the results from the Beresford meet the cross-country team attended.

Good opener for Kray Person as he finished third.

The guys who beat him were both Class A runners

1st - Lance Van Zee - Sioux Falls Christian - 16:44

2nd - Alec Atwood Beresford - 17:08

3rd - Kray Person - 17:14

Jackson Liewer ran 18th with an 18:45

55th - Washakie Vaughn 20:55

Keith Hoffman: 22:56

Jesse Williams: 24:37

Girls results:

Lacey Person, 26th, 23:05

Jolene Vaughn, 23:55

Alright, that's what was going on, here is what is going on this week.

* Tuesday night....Winner volleyball at Burke/South-Central...WHAT, that looks like that could be a hell of a match. You can always find these games at www.liveticket.tv, but of course Burke/South Central has their own Page...(We realize it says Burke right now but Betsy Watzel is on it.

Game webcast at www.liveticket.tv

* Friday, Sep. 1 @ Colome....This is another exciting game. Colome has been playing out of their minds through the first two games so Karbo and company are going to have to bring it...

Game will be webcast at www.liveticket.tv

* Cross country team is at the McCook-Cenrtral/Montrose meet on Tuesday and that should be another chance to run into some TUFF and different competition. Great early-season schedule for Laurie Kenzy's crew...

Big week down in Cougar country. We always encourage fans to attend the games in person because there is nothing better than a full gym of folks coming together to support our youth, BUT, if ya can't make it, if your running late, if you have relatives in other states...You've got the TICKET...www.liveticket.tv
