BSC gained some valuable experience at the Arlington tourney

BSC drops two but hangs with BIG DOGS at Arlington tourney
Sep 12, 2017

By Rich Winter

After ripping off five-straight wins to start the season, Billy Jo Indahl's BSC Cougars ran into a brick wall at the Arlington tournament, sort-of...

After beating Duebrook (25-17) (25-21) to start the tournament, Indahl's Cougars ran into the No. 2 team in Class B, the Warner Monarchs. Watched Warner handle Class A No. 3 team Miller in Miller and that program over in Warner is something else.

The Monarches won the Arlington tournament and are 12-1 on the season with the only loss of the year coming to No. 1 Northwestern.

The score of that Warner match was 11-25 and 23-25 so you like how Indahl's kids came back and battled in that second set.

Next match, BSC takes down Elkton-Lake Benton in 3-sets. After dropping that firs set, 27-29, BSC won set two 26-24 and finished it off 25-13.

The other loss of the tournament was to a good Arlington squad. BSC won the first set, 28-26, but lost the next two: 18-25 and 20-25.

Indahl's group finished the tournament with a 2-set win over Class A Hamlin.

Alright so BSC comes out of the tournament with a 3-2 record and hits Nebraska tonight with a 7-2 overall record. The Cougars are currently the No. 2 seed in Region 6.

One thing that comes out of playing in tournaments like these is coaches get to see what needs working on and players get to test their skills against some of the best teams in the state.

Seeing Warner for the first time can be intimidating, but hanging with them in the second set builds confidence.
