Aaker says line of scrimmage KEY as Winner and Bee CLASH in 11B QUARTERS
Oct 26, 2017
By Rich Winter
Just a couple of hours away from from the 11B quarter that people have been talking about all week. Two of the super-heavyweights of 11B football go at it again tonight with Bridgewater/Ethan/Emery taking on the two-time defending 11B champion Winner.
Great interview this morning as LiveTicket.TV's Jody Brozik sat down with Winner coach Dan Aaker to talk about tonight's CLASH in Winner.
It is 40 degrees in Winner right now with the wind out of the Northwest at 32 mph. Feels like 28, NOW, and it's only going to get colder.
Couple things really stood out from that interview with Aaker...
1. The weather is going to play havoc on a lot of games across the state tonight. While Aaker intimated there might be some new wrinkles in the offense tonight, he's not so sure WE will see them as the weather and wind are going to make things difficult.
2. Winner must win the battle of the line-of-scrimmage: Listen, it almost sounds like a cliche to throw that out there, BUT, Aaker points to a BEE offensive line led by guys like Boyd Hanselman 5-10, 225, Carter Dye 6-3, 215, Duot VanSickle 6-5, 260 and road grading senior, Bradlee Schultz, 6-3 and 220. Aaker intimated BEE likes to come to the line and go on first-sound....The Winner defenders will have to bring it, be sharp and match BEE's TUFFness on the interior line.
3. Jamin Arend must be contained: As a sophomore, Arend made quite an impression on Aaker and since Cole Gassmen went down, Arend has taken over. Aaker calls Arend the most explosive guy on the field and certainly someone Winner will have to handle.

Funny how BEE didn't really have a close game this year. Fourth week of the season, the preseason No. 1 11B squad got blown out at Madison. Ran the table the rest of the way and while the final score of the game against No. 1 Sioux Valley was 27-7 until a very late score.
BEE dropped a good McCook/Central-Montrose squad 42-0 in the playoffs.
Winner looked equally impressive in their 54-0 stomping of Stanley County in the 11 B first round. Winner lost their season opener to SFC, ran the table until the final road game of the season in that nail-biting loss to WWSSC, 21-14.
